Park Holidays UK acquires "a pearl of a park" on Essex's oyster island

Park Holidays UK has welcomed another park into its portfolio following a new acquisition on Mersea Island in Essex, famed for its oysters, sailing and wonderful coastline.
To be re-christened West Mersea Holiday Park, the group's latest member will give holiday home buyers the chance stake a claim on one of the island's most picturesque coastal stretches.
Around 260 holiday lodges and caravans currently comprise the long-established Essex park, along with 120 touring pitches – all laid out within 30 acres of landscaped grounds.
But there's another eye-catching delight, for the park also has 125 stylish beach huts on the seafront, all painted in traditional pastel shades to add to the attractive coastal scene.
It is the only holiday park based in the
much sought-after western quarter of Mersea Island which is located just south of Colchester and accessible via the Strood Causeway.
Formerly known as Seaview Holiday Park, it has, for many years, been a favourite of families seeking away-from-it-all holiday escapes on Essex's "sunshine coast".
West Mersea Holiday Park joins the six other top-rated parks operated by Park Holidays UK in Essex, and brings the total number of parks within the group to 31.
Park Holidays UK director Tony Clish says
the group's new acquisition was an excellent example of a park which had evolved over the years to meet rising customer expectations:
