Just steps away from the beach, enjoy the stunning blue sea to the north and large woodlands filled with wildlife to the south of the park. A short two-minute walk will take you to the charming coastal village of Burghead. Here, you can explore local shops and friendly country pubs. Walk or bike along the Coastal Trail that goes east to Hopeman, which is only two miles away. Hopeman has shops and pubs, plus an 18-hole golf course.
If you venture a little further inland, you can visit the historic town of Elgin. It’s known for breathtaking views and unique character. Elgin is home to several local distilleries, such as Glen Moray, Gordon & MacPhail and Glen Elgin. Many of these distilleries offer open days and whisky trails where you can learn more about the whisky-making process.
Late autumn is especially magical at Burghead, as you might see the aurora borealis lighting up the night sky. Plus, keep an eye out for dolphins and whales that can often be spotted in the bay!
